My dog just gave birth, why is she drinking a lot and has bloody poop?

My female dog gave birth about 2 weeks ago, and she has been acting strange. She drinks tons of water at a time, eats here and there, she's pretty thin to the point you can see her ribs. And she has been having blood in her stools. It comes and goes and today she went for the 2nd time after going the first, and nothing but blood came out of her. Excessive water consumption, weight loss despite still eating can signal diabetes. If she is nursing puppies, that is the most likely cause for her weight loss. The blood is concerning, it could be anything from parasites, to a viral or bacterial infection, just to name a couple of possibilities. I recommend getting her in to see your vet right away for an exam and labwork. Also, while she is nursing puppies, she should have access to lots of fresh water and as much high calorie puppy food as she wants at all times.
