My 8-week-old puppy had diarrhea, now hasn't pooped in 2 days. Help!

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

I've recently been handed a lab that was found nearly dead near a lake . Shes about 6-8 weeks old & had a lot of fleas & wounds when i received her. the first night she had diarrhea & now hasn't pooped at all for 2 days & I'm worried about her health as shes only a pup. Her vaccinations aren't until next week but i don't want to wait until its too late! I'd really appreciate some relief & enlightenment from a trained professional ,thanks you :)

Oh the poor puppy! How lovely of you to take her in! I would be very concerned that she hasn't pooped in two days, and this severe constipation could be caused by a significant burden of intestinal worms. That would also cause her the diarrhea the day before. She certainly isn't healthy enough to get vaccines if she isn't pooping, and it's extremely important that she is seen by a vet right away since she hasn't pooped in two days. I would take her into an ER vet or find a vet on call to see her ASAP.
