Why does my dog get scared by loud music or instruments and run away?

Why doesn't my dog like it when I play my flute (or when my brother plays his tuba)? He always puts his ears down, his tail between his legs, and runs out of the room. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male

Don't think it's a slight on your musical abilities, but dogs have much more sensitive hearing than humans. The notes of the music that you play may be distressing to Max, and that's why he runs out of the room. From now on when you or your brother practice on your instruments, I would put Max in another room where he can't hear it so as not to upset him :-)
