My cat's fight wound is infected. Why is he hiding and aggressive?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 10 lbs

My cat was in a cat fight and was injured during said fight. A wound in his leg was the worst. It is a bite mark that had not caused problems, until now. We just let him take care of himself, kept him inside. Its been three days now and this is the first I've seen him ever act this way. He hid under my bed, but I finally got him out, but he yowled and hissed and tried to attack my dad. I noticed that the wound looked darker and infected, squishy to touch, eyes cloudy. Does he have a disease?

When cats get into fights, typically the wounds become infected, and that's what it sounds like is happening to Rex. He has to see a vet for this immediately, as it will be very painful for him. He will need the wound cleaned, and he will need antibiotics to treat the infection. I would let your dad know that medical treatment is needed right away for Rex. Please bring him into an ER vet or find a vet on call to see him now.
