Why is my puppy hacking and dry heaving, even after drinking?

My 11 week old Rottweiler puppy is always hacking and what sounds like he's dry heaving... I can give him water but he will still do it... what is wrong :(. Pet's info: Dog | Rottweiler | Male | unneutered | 2 months and 14 days old | 10 lbs

It is possible that Odin has kennel cough, which would cause him to hack and dry heave. This is a highly contagious respiratory infection. It is self limiting, but it can take up to three to four weeks for symptoms to resolve. I would have Odin seen by a vet today if possible. Even though it is self limiting, the vet may prescribe medications that can help with his symptoms.
