My kitten's declawed paw is swollen and red. Is this normal?

Pet's info: Cat | Bombay | Female | spayed | 1 year and 1 month old | 9 lbs

Hi! Our Kitten got declawed about two weeks ago and still has her stitches in her paws. I understand swelling is normal but two of her toes are twice there normal size and red. She tries not to put weight on it. I appreciate the help!

This is absolutely not normal, and Francesca needs to see a vet immediately. Those toes could be infected, and she needs veterinary attention right away. Please bring her into an ER vet or find a vet on call to see her now.

It looks like she has swelling and I would guess an infection (cellulitis) associated with multiple toes. It is possible she had a wound on her paw or injuries to her nails. A fractured or dislocated toe is also possible. I would recommend seeing a veterinarian to have her foot examined. They may recommend taking an x-ray to make sure the bones look okay, and if they agree it appears infected they may prescribe antibiotics.
