My dog only barks at threats. Is this ideal guard dog behavior?

My dog never barks when someone comes inside the gate, except when it's someone really scary or strange. How to make him bark and guard better?

You really don't want him barking at anyone who comes by, because he may become a nuisance barker. He really only should bark at someone he senses to be a potential danger, and he seems to be doing that already!
