Will calming tablets or sprays help with a cat's heat behaviors?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 10 months and 8 days old

What effect do calming tablets - like the herbal tablets that "reduce problem behaviour" and are used to calm pets in situations like vet visits, fireworks, travelling, and so on - and calming sprays have on cats? Are they likely to help deal with a cat in heat? (I have Beaphar Calming Tablets and Home Spray. Is there a better brand of calming meds?) Thanks.

These likely won't help much with the behaviors of a cat in heat, as these calming tablets work on animals with anxiety. Certainly you can try it, but because these behaviors are hormonally driven, the only way to stop these behaviors is to remove the source of the hormones: the uterus and ovaries. I would have Jolly spayed as soon as possible if you don't want to deal with her behaviors during heat.
