I found an unharmed baby bird. What should I do with the fledgling?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

I've already written a question but it seems it did not go through... Making things shorter, I rescued a House Sparrow fledgling from being mauled by my dog; the bird is fortunately unharmed (no blood, wings moving ok, legs also working - it even perches), but I don't know what to do! I've got no idea where its nest is, bird was in my kitchen somehow.. As for his "stage" of development, he hops around, flies short distances, stops and then looks tired, immobile. What to do? Contact the local veterinary clinic. Ask if the have contact information for a local wildlife rehabilitator. If you can get the bird to a rehabber, it will have an excellent chance at eventual release. House sparrows eat seeds and grains. In the meantime, you can offer a seed mix including millet and sunflower seed. Some moistened dry dog food can also be offered.
