Why is my dog constantly licking her lips but acting normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Female | spayed | 4 years and 9 months old | 65 lbs

Our 4 year old lab mix has been licking her lips constantly for last two hours. We have checked her mouth and teeth and cannot see any obvious tooth or mouth issues. She has not vomited and is otherwise acting normal.

Licking lips can be a sign of nausea in dogs, and that could be what's causing Fendi to do this behavior. Given that she is otherwise acting normal, I would monitor her for now. If she is still acting this way in the morning, or develops other symptoms such as vomiting and lethargy, I would have her seen by a vet.
