My cat might have FIP. Should I quarantine her from my other cats?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 10 lbs

I have 3 cats one has symptoms of possibly FIP waiting on blood test. All of our cats have been together for 3-5 years would there be any reason to quarantine her when they have all been eating together using the litter box ect.

I'm sorry that LouLou may have FIP! Feline coronavirus (which causes FIP) can be found in high quantities in the saliva and feces of cats during acute infection, so it can be spread via cat-to-cat contact and in the litter box. Given that, it is possible that your other cats could have contracted feline coronavirus from LouLou, but it would be best to quarantine her to be safe.
