Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | unneutered | 9 years and 4 months old | 60 lbs

9 yr old dog diagnosed with cushings disease 2 yrs ago, untreated, and in later stages, has red, swollen, hot area on hind leg (knee) joint?, and the redness and heat is starting to travel up his leg. Could this be cellulitis and wondering if needs to be euthanized.

It sounds like Blue has a horrible infection in his joint, and he has to see a vet immediately. This will be painful for him, and it is possible it could be treated. Please take him into a vet right away.
