My cat's watery eyes and runny nose aren't improving. What's next?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 2 years old

I took my cat to the vet and they said he had allergy but didn't prescribe anything. my Kitty was suffering from watery eyes and runny nose plus sneezing (NOT TOO MUCH SNEEZING) for more than 5 days and all I did was steamy showers and ped. Saline twice. he's not improving and he was having hiccups all night and he didn't sleep cause he was super active and playful and he eats and drinks very fast and a lot that he always hiccups during or after. is the hiccup allergy related? What to give him?

Sneezing, runny nose and watery eyes are usually due to an upper respiratory infection in cats rather than an allergy and it must be treated with an antibiotic course. the hiccups are non related and probably occur due to him eating too fast.
