My dog's eyes are red, itchy, and swollen. Could it be allergies?

Oliver is on Apoquel for allergies but sometimes his eyes still get watery and itchy. They are slightly red and swollen right now and he is rubbing at them. Is there anything I can do or buy at a petsmart to relieve his irritated eyes?

Do not give any or apply anything into Oliver's eyes without the advice of your veterinarian. Contact your vet about giving an antihistamine in addition to Apoquel to Oliver for relief. There are OTC antihistamines that can be used in dogs as well as several prescription options. Discuss dosing with your vet as, legally, we are unable to recommend medications and dosing in the absence of a patient-vet-client relationship and a physical exam.

It sounds like Oliver is either having an allergic reaction or is beginning to get an eye infection. You could give him an over the counter antihistamine. Also make sure Oliver is not rubbing his eyes as this will make the condition worse. If they are remaining inflamed, I would take him into the veterinarian to get him checked out.
