How to stop my dog from barking constantly when I leave her alone?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pomeranian | Female | unspayed | 7 months and 3 days old

My dog is really getting annoying with her constant barking. I can't leave her alone for five seconds because of her barking. She starts as soon as I close the door to go somewhere or if I put her in the room as like timeout. Can anyone help me with training her to stop barking. Nothing works, treats, tapping her nose and saying "no bad dog" nothing and I'm losing my patience with her.

Slowly acclimate Nala to your absence. Prepare to leave the house or room several times during the day and night. Leave sometimes and other times stay. Do not make a big deal about leaving or returning. Initially, step outside for a minute or two then walk back inside. Ignore her for 15 minutes or until she calms down each time you return. Gradually increase the length of your absence. Provide special toys or treats to be used only when you leave. Use praise and small rewards as she progresses. The use of pheromone collars or sprays may also help to ease her anxiety. She may need to be seen by your vet as well as by a behaviorist or trainer.
