Ragdoll cat with chronic soft stool & messy fur: Food or vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Ragdoll | Male | neutered | 5 months and 18 days old | 7.5 lbs

Hi, I have a ragdoll and his intestines are really bad. If you give him something else than catfood the diarea is insuperable, so we don't do that anymore. But even when he gets royal canin (three different types mixed) his feces are soft, and it even happens a lot that his hair on the back is full with feces. What food is really good for ragdolls with this kind of problems? Or do we need to go to the vet. He has this problem from the beginning and I know ragdolls have weak intestines...

Since this has been a chronic problem, he should be examined by a vet to determine the cause. He could have an intestinal parasite or infection and your vet can test a stool sample and prescribe medications to help treat the diarrhea.
