My dog is crying, spinning, and unable to get up. What's wrong?

hi,my dog is crying and is constantly turning and turning and is unable to get up.please help because i don't know what is wrong with him and i would really like to help.Since i cant stand seeing my dog in that manner

Your dog needs veterinary care immediately. He could have a problem with the vertebrae in his back, a fracture or tendon injury to a leg, or severe abdominal pain. A full exam by a vet will help to zero in on the site of the problem, and then appropriate treatment can be given.

Lucky may be feeling some pain, or may have a deformity or issue with his back, especially if he wags his tail differently. I would bring him into the vet to have some X-rays taken of his back to check for any problems or inflammation that could be causing his pain and soreness. Your vet can also recommend medications to help with inflammation, and pain, in addition to supplements such as glucosamine or fish oil which can help with joint pain and inflammation as well.

My dog is shivering constantly on and off for the last few hours. He is crying constantly and very sluggish & antisocial which is not normal.
Poor pup! Shaking is a common sign of pain or discomfort in dogs, which could also cause him to be crying, acting lethargic, and not very social. Unfortunately, these are very vague symptoms that could be caused by almost anything, so it's hard to say what might be causing this without being able to examine him. Many dogs with back pain due to a pinched nerve or herniated disc will act this way, so this is certainly a possibility; he could also have abdominal pain, or some other type of injury that isn't visible from the outside. Since it sounds like he's very painful and the underlying problem may be serious, I would really recommend taking him to a vet right away - he/she can do x-rays or other testing if needed to help diagnose the problem and get him started on appropriate treatment.

This sounds like he has bad back or hip pain. He needs veterinary attention right away. They will prescribe pain medication and may do X-rays to determine if he has hip or spinal arthritis. With treatment he should improve if he was fine before. Sometimes back or arthritis pain is worse after a lot of activity, or from being confined and not being able to move around. It sounds like your dog is uncomfortable or painful from some reason. He may have a back injury, a disc problem, or hip problem, or even abdominal pain. Your pet needs to be seen by your vet for an exam, bloodwork, and possibly x-rays to determine the cause for your pet's symptoms and get him stated on treatment.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Billy. I recommend that he sees a veterinarian today. Some dogs, Beagles being one of them, are prone to neck and/or back pain. The muscle that lines the spine can spasm. This can be excruciatingly painful for the dog. Some dogs will move and cry out, bark or whine. They can be reluctant to do stairs or jump on/off furniture. Some are hesitant to walk and may stand with a hunched posture. This could be his problem or he may have a separate issue. The veterinarian will carefully examine him and determine how best to treat him. In the meantime, keep him quiet and do not give any over-the-counter pain medications as these can be toxic to dogs. Caddy looks really uncomfortable in the photos. It sounds like there is a source of pain, judging from the photos, thid could be pain in the abdomen or in the back or legs. It may also be something simple like full anal glands. I would give him an hour or so to see if he settles in case its just a gassy tummy, but if he doesnt I would take him in for an examination.

We have a 120 lb mastiff. We came home and he was crying. It appears to be pain related to his rear right side. He can not stand without whining/crying.
Poor Rex! It sounds like he is quite sore. If he doesn't want to stand, and is whining and crying, then he needs to be seen by a vet as soon as possible. He'll need to be examined as he may have a fracture in the leg which is why he is in so much pain, or could have damages nerves in the leg. Once the vet has isolated where the pain is coming from then they may want to do X-rays in order to figure out exactly why Rex is so sore.

It sounds like she is having some pain so she should be examined by a vet. Your vet can do a physical examination to localize the pain and then determine the best way to treat. She may need an anti-inflammatory and pain medication to help.

He may have a muscle sprain. If he continues to behave in this manner, its best to get him seen b your vet for a full physical exam to try and localize the painful area and get her on pet friendly pain medication to help her get more comfortable.
