Pink ball in 60-day pregnant dog's vagina? Can she deliver safely?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pit Bull Terrier | Female | unspayed | 50 lbs

I have a 60 day pregnant dog, who has a small pinkish ball inside her vagina. My vet is closed until Tuesday. What could this be? will she be able to have her puppies naturally? Please help.

Hopefully this is just vaginal or uterine tissue you are seeing as she is getting closer to delivery. Monitor her closely for discharge from the vulva that is cloudy, bleeding from the vulva, or excessive lethargy. Start checking her rectal temperature every 4 - 6 hours - once it falls below 99, she should start to go into labor in 12 hours or so. And take her to the emergency vet if you see any concerning signs before your vet opens on Tuesday.
