Should my 7-year-old cat get surgery for a facial tumor/cancer?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 7 years and 8 months old | 10 lbs

My vet says my cat may have either a folical tumor or cancer on her face between her nose and eye... she is 7 yrs old, do the risks of such a surgery on her face out weigh the beinfits?

Given that Marley is only seven years old, I would say it would be worth it to do surgery. It this helps cure her cancer, she could have a number of good years of life left with you. A cat can live up to 15-20 years, and while there are cats who pass away sooner than that, it would be worth trying to extend her life.
