My dog has a tummy ache and is burping. Should I take her to the vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Maltese | Female | unspayed | 3 years and 8 months old | 4 lbs

Our little pupper has been having tummy aches since last night. She's been given a little white chicken with white rice. She's kind of making burping sounds and sleeping. What should I do next? Should I take her to the veterinary practice for an exam? What do you advise me to do? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your help.

If the signs are not persistent and are gradually resolving, there is no need for a veterinary consultation at this stage. Continue with the same diet in small portions for the next 48 hours. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice diarrhoea, vomiting, lethargy or inappetence.
