My found cat is microchipped. Will the vet think I stole him?

Hi my cat is a rescue cat and he turned up 6 years ago all scruffy and unwanted and he has never left the home since he is an outdoor cat and goes out but always comes here within an hour or so. I found out he is microchipped and I am scared I can never take him to the vet because of this I don't want them to think he is stolen

Wow, what a tough situation for you to be in! It does happen that people abandon their pets, and it could be what happened to your cat. I would simply be honest with the vet. Tell them he turned up on your doorstep, and you kept him because you thought he was a stray. He will have to see a vet for his health, so as long as you are honest with them, I'm sure they will believe you :-)
