My dog is aggressive. Should I use artificial insemination to breed her?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Border Collie | Female | unspayed

Thinking of breeding our tri border collie merle with a white German sheperd in about 6-8months when she is next on heat. She gets on with other dogs but gets incredibly tetchy and growls sometimes when another dog sniffs her bottom yet she does it to other dogs. Worried there will be a problem breeding her as she may not let it happen and wondering if there is my alternative methods of doing it? E.g vets etc :)

It is possible to breed bitches using artificial insemination which your vet can perform but you should think very carefully about breeding from any animal with poor behaviour traits as this is often passed to puppies. Also poorly sociable mothers often do not nurse well and need close supervision or even bottle feeding of pups
