My puppy fell on concrete. What signs of injury should I watch for?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Italian Greyhound | Male | unneutered | 1 month and 18 days old | 2.5 lbs

MY puppy fell from my arms onto concrete, he's very little only 7 weeks and a bit over a kilo. He cried really loudly for a bit but seems fine now. I've run my hand all over him and there doesn't seem to be any discomfort. He's had a bit to eat, been playing with my other dog and is walking absolutely fine. Should I be concerned and is there anything in particular I should be watching out for?

Poor Winston! Given that he's walking fine, eating, and playing, I wouldn't rush him into a vet right away. There is a chance he could have suffering from some internal injuries from the fall, and I would monitor him for now. If he starts limping, stops eating, vomits, becomes very lethargic, or have any other changes in behavior from the normal, I would have him seen by a vet immediately.
