Why are raw carrots in my dog's poop? Should I purée them?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

I like to give my dogs raw baby carrots as snacks but I notice that there is chunks of them in her stool. Does this mean she's not digesting them? Should I grate or purée them so she can digest them better or is this not needed? she doesn't like them cooked.

It's difficult for dogs to digest raw carrots, which is why you are seeing chunks of them in your dog's stool. You can puree them, which will help her digest them better, or you can very lightly cook them to make them easier for her to digest :-)
