Why is my unneutered dog growling when waking up? How to stop it?

I have a 2 year old not fix male lab. He was a round a dementia patient that passed away for 1 year of his life. He is now waking up from his sleep randomly and growling at us and we have to talk him down. I need help to fix this problem

Neutering him may help decrease his aggression. You could also try an Adaptil collar and see if that helps. If not, talk to your vet about trying an anti-anxiety medication, like Prozac or Trazodone. You could also talk to a trainer or a behaviorist and have a professional help with behavior modification training.
