My female cat was pregnant and seems to have been going through a miscarriage. She has bloody discharge, is weak, and seems a bit lethargic. Anything I can do to keep her safe and help her through this?

I'm so sorry that Preciosa is experiencing a miscarriage! Given that she is weak and lethargic, I would have her seen by a vet immediately. She needs veterinary attention to prevent hemorrhage or infection that can result if tissue remains in the uterus.

Cats do not bleed like dogs do when they are in heat, so this bleeding that you have seen is not an indication she was in heat. It's an indication that something is wrong, and she could have a retained placenta or may now have an infection of the uterus called a pyomera. Given that she is not eating, very weak, and has little strength, I would consider this a medical emergency and she has to see a vet now. Without seeing her in person, I can't say the exact treatment she needs but you will have to trust the vet to give the correct one. Leaving this untreated could be fatal. Please take her into a vet now.

Bleeding dark red blood is not a sign of labor, and it is a sign that something is wrong with the pregnancy such as a miscarriage. This is something that needs to be checked out by a vet immediately. Please take her into a vet right away. Best of luck.
