Why is my blue heeler scratching, losing fur, and bald spots?

Pet's info: Dog | Australian Cattle Dog | Female | unspayed | 4 years and 8 months old | 26 lbs

My blue heeler female has a small bald spot and scab on her back near her butt and seems to be losing fur in small patches on the back and scratching alot the last week, shes still very healthy and eating fine, and shes also in heat ,my other 2 healers are perfectly fine. Any suggestions?

She could have a skin infection or allergic dermatitis. Inspect her for fleas as that is a classic pattern for a flea allergy dermatitis. Make sure to use a monthly flea prevention, like NexGard, Frontline, Revolution, etc. You could bathe her with a medicated dog shampoo and see if that helps. If not, have your vet examine her as she may need an antibiotic, anti-histamine, and anti-inflammatory to help treat.
