My dog has neurological symptoms after a bite. What else could it be?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Bullmastiff | Female | spayed | 105 lbs

I have a 4-5 yr old bull mastiff. She has lost the muscle in right side of jowl, eye is not blinking regularly and she is weaving when walking. Seems to have lost strength if front quarters. She is eating, drinking and was bit by something in the mouth within the last several days. Could it be something other than neurological (brain tumor)?

If she was bitten by something in the mouth, Liberty could have gotten an infection from it, and the bacteria can travel to the brain leading to the walking difficulties you are seeing. She also could have suffered nerve damage to her face from the bite, causing her eye to not blink regularly, and losing muscle in her face. It's quite serious that she is experiencing these symptoms, and she needs to see a vet immediately.
