Is it safe to give my cat milk? What if she's had it for years?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Siberian | Female | spayed

I've been giving my baby Negra milk for years now! A small amount, maybe every few weeks or so. I feel horrible. Her poop looks normal, looks somewhat wet but formed well, doesn't look like diarrhea at all. Did I mess up her GI? I haven't given her milk in the past couple of weeks. I plan to discontinue now although she will be a little upset :( but better for the better. Please let me know what may have gone wrong within that time range and what to do?

Don't worry! You haven't messed up her GI system :-) Likely, a little won't hurt every now and then, but because it normally does cause GI upset, it's best to avoid it completely. It's ok, no need to get upset. You are doing the right thing by not giving it to her anymore. I bet if you give her a little white meat chicken (no bones) as an occasional treat instead, Negra will be quite the happy kitty :)
