Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | unneutered | 7 lbs

hello my cat recently came in one afternoon after being outside for a while with what deemed to be a bump on his head i didnt pay much attention to it until thr next day that i noticed bleeding. He would lick that area down with his paw and just today he scratched and a whoke piece of his skin fell off and revealed a open wound with blood. i am going to take him to the vet in the morning but i would like to know more or less what he has. He also had blood in his poop today along with diarrhea.

Poor Keanu! He could have been injured outside, or he could have been attacked by another animal causing the wound. The blood in his poop is serious, and that could be caused by intestinal parasites, trauma to the GI tract, a foreign body, GI ulcers, GI tumors, or toxin ingestion. You are doing exactly the right thing by take Keanu into the vet in the morning, and I'd bring along a sample of his poop with you for the vet to examine.
