Since your dog is a big dog, it is unlikely that 1/2 of a ferrous gluconate pill will cause problems. However, ferrous gluconate can have side effects such as constipation; darkened or green stools; diarrhea; loss of appetite; nausea; stomach cramps, pain, or upset; vomiting. Sometimes there are allergies. Monitor Osyrus, and should he show any signs of illness, take him to a veterinarian for an exam.
