My FeLV positive cat has diarrhea and accidents. Is it FeLV related?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 1 year old | 8 lbs

My cat tested faint positive for FELV before we adopted him. So far he has been acting normal, but it seems like he has a lot of diarrhea that stink very badly. Tonight I was in the shower and he seemed to have had a small accident on my bed, and ran to the litterbox (in my bathroom) when i got out. I'm not sure if this was just an accident, like some coming out with a fart, or is this something to worry about? please help!

Persistent diarrhea is a symptom of FeLV, and given that Derek has had a positive to the disease, it's possible that his diarrhea is due to this. I would have him seen by a vet in the morning. Derek may benefit from some medications for his diarrhea, and the vet can prescribe them to him if needed.
