How to help a stray kitten with a broken paw that won't be caught?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

A stray kitten got into my garage and got into the engine of my car. I didn't realize until I turned my car on and heard meowing. It took a couple hours but finally got him out. It looks like he broke his front right paw. Now sure what to do next? He will not let you catch him or come up to him in anyway Will it heal on its own?

Poor kitten! This will not heal on it's own, and he has to see a vet immediately. I would try to lure him out with food and catch him that way, or you can call the SPCA to come out and help you. He needs medical attention immediately, so if you don't want to assume financial responsibility for him, I would call the SPCA to come and get him so they can get medical help for him.

If it heals, it will probably heal crooked. Call your local humane society. They have traps and can help you catch the kitty and will likely take it to a veterinarian (if it is a no kill shelter). You may also be able to catch it in a trap and then take it to a veterinarian. Start feeding it, so it will be bribable.
