Dog fell off bed, now dizzy, shaking, peeing. Is it a vet emergency?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Silky Terrier | Male | neutered | 5 years and 8 months old | 7 lbs

My small dog fell off the bed and didn't cry. But when i went to check on him he was stumbling as if he was dizzy. He was shaking uncontrobally for about 10 minutes. He stopped and just wanted to sit on my lap. About an hour later he peed himself several times and began to wobble again. What precautions should I take? Should I take him to the Vet now or wait till morning?

I would bring him to the veterinarian right away. He needs a good neurologic exam, and some radiographs. Based on his symptoms he may have a head injury, and should recover in medical supervision. That must have been scary for you!

Poor Russell! Given that he is wobbly and peeing himself, I think it's best to have him seen by a vet now. He could have really injured himself, and I'm concerned about the wobbling, shaking, and urinating on himself. My recommendation is to take him into a vet now.
