Dog anal glands: How much pumpkin and how often should I feed it?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Does pumpkin for anal Gland treatment need to be given at each meal of can it be given once a day? I use a Kong at one of her meals and layer the Kong with pumpkin. I usually use about 2 tablespoons with her 1/3 cup kibble in the Kong. Should I give her another two tablespoons with dinner? Or is this too much? Thanks!

I typically recommend one tablespoon of pumpkin for each meal, so it's given twice a day. It's fine, however, to give it to her once a day with two tablespoons, but I would not add any more to her diet. Too much fiber can cause constipation, so it's best to stick with a maximum of two tablespoons today.
