Dog still peeing blood after antibiotics. Is it more than a UTI?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Bull Terrier | 2 years and 8 months old

My two year old english bull terrier started urinating blood at the end of urination about 9 days ago. She was prescribed antibiotics and today is the 7th day of her drinking them. Yesterday she seemed better, urinating normally, but today again at the end of her urination she peed about 4-5 drops of blood. Other than the blood she doesn't seem to have any other symptoms, other than slightly more frequent urination. Could this be something worse than a UTI?

Zorica's UTI may not be completely cleared up, as she should still be peeing blood after seven days of antibiotics. She could also have bladder stones causing the blood. I would have her seen by a vet again today for these symptoms.

Poor Bella! Pets who have continued blood need to have a urine culture to check for antibiotic resistance and an ultrasound of the bladder to rule out a bladder stone or bladder cancer. There is a reason for the blood, you just have to find it. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.
