My pet died at home. How can I cope with grief and memorialize them?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

TO: Dr. Melanie, BVSc MS. Thank you once again for your help. We buried him Wednesday evening after he passed that morning, so he is resting in peace on our property. I'm reaching for answers, but I'm also understanding that there may not be any & I'll have to be a peace with his passing & the unknown. Again, I deeply appreciate your help during this difficult time. Thank you.

You are very welcome. Please accept my deepest sympathies for your loss. Losing a beloved pet is extremely difficult, especially when they pass suddenly, and I hope that as time passes, your grief will ease. It sounds like you have given him a lovely burial spot, and you can consider making a headstone for his resting place as a memorial to him. You are in the my thoughts.
