Bunny's nose still thick and runny after URI antibiotics. Vet again?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Male | neutered

My bunny had an upper respiratory infection and I took him to the vet. He has been on antibiotics for three weeks now and has stopped sneezing so much (he still does, but not very often and has no sneezing fits) however his nose is still very runny and it's not clear, it's a very thick mucus. The antibiotics will finish in a couple of days, I'm wondering if I should take him back to the vet? Thank you!

Yes, it would be prudent to have Claude rechecked by your veterinarian. Consider having a sample of the discharge submitted for culture and sensitivity. This will confirm infection and identify the responsible organism as well as the best antibiotic to use in treatment.
