My puppy has a soft lump near his eye and gum. Should I see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Hi I have a 17 week old doberman boy and notived yesterday a small (pea sized) movable soft lump in his cheek under his eye. I have also seen a ulcer or pimple on his gum near the lump. I know this os probably an abscess but just want to know if we need to take him to the vets? He still jas his baby teeth so should it go when the suspect tooth drops out? He is not in pain, is his usual self and his eating so we are not overly concerned at the moment and would justnlike some advice. Thank you

Yes, you do need to take him to the vet. It will not go away on it's own even when the tooth drops out. Dogs are very good at hiding their pain, so he could still be in pain without showing any outward signs. I would have him seen by a vet as soon as possible.
