My 9-week Shih Tzu puppy fell. Why isn't he playful or barking?

I have a 9 week old shitzu that jumped out of my arms and fell about 2-3 ft onto my bed and landed on his back and yelped. He didn't go unconscious or anything but he won't bark and is not being playful. Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Male | unneutered | 2 lbs

Ouch, poor Beau! He could have hurt his back in the fall, and that's why he's not being playful at the moment. I would rest him overnight, no jumping, playing, or running. Take him out to toilet on a lead only, and bring him right back in when he's done. If he's still not his normal self in the morning, then I would take him into the vet for an exam. Please do not give him any human pain medications, as many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given.
