Why is my senior dog bleeding, vomiting, and peeing in the house?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Female | unspayed | 65 lbs

Hi, Our dog is 10 years old. She has developed large tumor looking growths on her belly, and is bleeding quite a lot from her vaginal area. Her eyes have also suddenly started to bulge and even turn outward. She has been throwing up and very thirsty, and for the first time is peeing all over our apartment. Any idea what this entails?

Malley needs to see a vet immediately, this is a medical emergency. I see she isn't spayed, and the bleeding, vomiting, extreme thirst, and urination in the house are all symptoms of a pyometra. This is a life threatening infection of the uterus that is fatal without treatment. She needs medical treatment now, which likely includes spaying her, as that is the treatment of choice of a pyometra. It also sounds like she has mammary tumors. Please take her into a vet ASAP.
