Should I use treats for dog training if he's still potty training?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Cavalier King Charles Spaniel | Female | unspayed

If I train my dog through out the day and give him treats, will it affect his potty training? Will he poo or pee more because his rations are spread out? Should i feed him only during mealtime to limit accidents? Or should I start obedience train him after he gets his potty training down?

It's find to feed Bowie small treats when training him, just make sure to take him outside within 15 minutes after finishing the training session to encourage him to potty. This will fit in with his potty training, as he should be taken out very soon after eating.

It is important to train your dog, It should not interfere with housebreaking. Be careful not to overtrain, though, and limit the number of treats she gets. Treats are loaded with fat. It is best if she performs for you anyway, rather than for a treat. Train no more than ten minutes at a time.
