Why is my senior dog shaking, breathing heavy, and won't eat or drink?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Male | neutered | 90 lbs

If my dog is shaking, breathing heavy, and refuses to eat or drink water what should I do? He's about 9 years old and is a pit bull.

I would take Ollie into a vet right away. As a senior dog, there could be serious causes to his symptoms, such as cancer, organ disease, respiratory disease, or heart disease. He needs to be examined by a vet to determine what is causing his symptoms so he can be treated.
