What if a visitor's dog has worms? Can they infect my family?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Bulldog | Female | spayed | 5 years and 10 months old | 92 lbs

My mothers dog just threw up worms that look like spaghetti. She has 6 dogs. She is supposed to come and visit for the weekend. I have a 2 year old and an English bulldog.Could her visit be harmful to my child and dog? - she is not bringing her dogs. I am concerned about her carrying these worms.

As long as your mother practices good hygiene before she leaves to come and visit, there will be no harm to your child and dog. It sounds like your mom's dog has roundworms, and she will need a deworming treatment to treat it. Panacur will kill the roundworms. Also make sure Jackie is up to date on her deworming treatments. Panacur is available OTC.
