My dog has a painful, red sore between her toes. What should I do?

Hello. My dog has a very bad sore in between her toes. It looks incredibly painful and is red and full of puss. Can you give some insight on it possibly tell me what it is and any at home treatments

It sounds like Cleo's sore has become infected if it's red and full of puss. She could have injured herself, or could have licked the area raw due to irritation. She will need to see a vet for antibiotics for the infection, there are no home remedies for that, and I would have her seen by a vet in the morning. For tonight, you can soak her paw in an Epson salt bath for five minutes.

    You can try soaking the paw in some epsom salt solution once a day for up to three days. Make sure to dry well between the toes,. If there is oozing infection, or if it does not get better or gets worse anytime during that time, you should take her to your vet for an exam. She may have a fungal infection, bacterial infection or a foreign body imbedded. There is also a possibility that she is suffering from allergies. Your veterinarian will do a skin exam and should be able to pinpoint a cause and then initiate proper treatment.
