My dog has blood in his poo, what could be causing this? His poo is a pastey yellow, soft but not quite diiahrrere. Food is varied.

Poor Rippa! Blood in the stool can be caused by a number of different things in dog this age. Some possibilities would include intestinal parasites, a systemic illness such as liver or kidney disease, rectal polyps, inflammatory bowel disease, colitis, or an anal gland infection. Some of these problems can be serious, so I would recommend having Rippa examined by a vet as soon as you are able to. He/she can do a fecal exam and blood work if needed to help diagnose the problem and get him started on appropriate treatment.
