My dogs have kennel cough. Will they keep passing it back and forth?

Adopted a puppy from shelter, brought home & he started acting lethargic, heavy/labored breathing, sneezing, hacking/coughing, runny nose. my 6yr old dog now has the same symptoms and my puppy seems to be getting a little better. Vets just tell me its nothing. but i assume it's kennel cough. Puppy was on anitibiotics now my adult dog is on them, will they keep passing it back and forth? Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | unneutered | 40 lbs

They should not pass it back and forth once they have recuperated from this strain of infection kennel cough is caused by a variety of viruses and bacteria. It can take up to 6 weeks to pass. Usually it is an uncomplicated infection. Unfortunately kennel cough is rampant in shelters.
