My dog has cancer. Can surgery help his breathing from throat nodes?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered

My dog was recently diagnosed with cancer. The lymph nodes in his throat are so big they are starting to cut off his air way. We aren't going the chemo route, but want to do everything possible to help him. Is there any surgery possible to remove these lymph nodes and allow him to breath better? Right now that's the main problem because he's been acting like his normal self otherwise.

Unfortunately surgery is not an option in this case, Prednisolone (a steroid) often can help reducing the swelling temporarily, if he is already on this medication (not chemo) and it does not have any effect, you should consider euthanasia.
