What are these scabbed sores on my dog's skin? Should I see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Female | unspayed | 2 years and 9 months old | 70 lbs

Hi there I have found scabbed sores on my 2.5 year old lab/terrier mix. There are a couple on her lower tummy, one on each leg and last week there was one located above her tail on her back - but it has disappeared. I am not sure what is causing these sores but I am becoming concerned

Poor Loca! There are a number of skin problems that can cause scabbed-over sores like this. The most common possibilities would include allergies, fleas, a bacterial or fungal skin infection, or skin mites (mange). Treatment recommendations would depend on the underlying problem, so I would recommend having Loca examined by a vet as soon as you are able to. He/she can do some simple skin tests to help diagnose the problem and get her started on appropriate medication to treat it.
