One way to tell is weight gain. Steady weight gain week per week can indicate a pregnancy. You can check Mama Chin's belly, and if you notice her nipples starting to peak out through her fur, that is another sign that she could be pregnant. The best way to know, however, is to have her examined by a vet who can determine for sure if she is pregnant.

Unfortunately the only way to tell if she is pregnant is to take her to a veterinarian or just wait and see. Animals in captivity are usually heavier due to over eating. If you are curious I would take her to a vet to see.

Gerbils are excellent at hiding that they are pregnant, however it will be obvious obvious a few days before they are due to give birth. Gerbils can reproduce at approximately three or four months old, some even earlier, ‘Once your gerbil looks pear-shaped, it is a pretty sure sign that she is pregnant and close to giving birth. Pregnant gerbils will start to build a nest, which is a sign that giving birth is imminent. Since you have already noticed that Margo has gained weight and that your Gerbils obviously were mating, you can be pretty sure that you will soon have more than two ;-) . Rosey has gained all of weight in last week and eating alot so curious if shes pregmant. Is there any sure fire ways of telling?
Well, guinea pigs gestation period is about 65 days, and of course she has to have some contact with a male. In the past, I have been able to tell if they are pregnant by palpation. Also, if you gingerly placer your hands on either side of her belly you may be able to feel moving piglets. If she is an adult and has never had a litter please take her to see a veterinarian. Female guinea pigs can have a very tough tough me delivering if their pelvis has matured completely. Good luck to you and Rosey.

They are quite cute! The best way to determine pregnancy in a rabbit is via a physical exam. Other symptoms include weight gain, nesting, fur pulling or aggressive behavior. Gestation is short, about 4 weeks. They can mate as soon as a few days after kindling (giving birth), so it would be recommended to separate them until you can determine genders and pregnancy status. You may see swollen, pink nipples, some "morning sickness", increased appetite, weight gain and a distended abdomen. Without a physical exam though, a determination of pregnancy cannot be made definitively. Ideally, she should be examined by a veterinarian. An abdominal x-ray or ultrasound can confirm pregnancy.

Well, the first thing you'll need to do is figure out whether or not this is a male or female. There are lots of images available on guinea pig sexing and guinea pig anatomy so that you will be able to figure this out most likely. In terms of the symptoms you've reported, I would have to see pictures and perform a physical exam to give you my take. It sounds like you could be right, but there are also many other reasons for both pain and swelling in the abdomen. I would recommend having you and your parents bring him to a veterinarian comfortable treating small mammals. Hope this makes sense.

Unfortunately, it is impossible to tell based only on the appearance of her belly. Weight gain, and loss of muscle tone, can both lead to a dropped appearance as well. We look at other signs, such as development of her mammary glands. It is possible she is pregnant if she was bred or in contact with a male while in heat and is now showing symptoms of pregnancy. However, if would be best to confirm with your veterinarian to rule out any other health issues. Your vet can also take an X-ray to determine how many puppies to expect if she is pregnant.
If she seems to be going into labor, having a box with lots of blankets and cloth handy can give her a place to safely have her puppies. You may notice her pacing, visible contractions down her side, and she may stop eating while in active labor. The nipples can swell and "wax" (produce a waxy milk-like substance) right before she is due/early labor as well. If she seems very in distress, has strange discharge without labor or puppies, is pushing and can't produce a puppy or is in active labor/becomes very weak, it is best to seek veterinary care immediately as these can be signs there is a problem that requires immediate treatment.

Hi, if your cat has mated with another cat there is a 99% chance that she is pregnant. If you don’t know if your cat has mated pregnancy can be detected on physical examination after the first half of pregnancy and sometimes earlier on with an ultrasound. What are some ways to tell if my hamster is pregnant without an ultrasound? And if she is how would I prepare?
It will be difficult to tell if she is pregnant until the last week or so. You will generally see an enlargement of the abdomen and her mammary glands becoming more prominent. Right before she gives birth, she will lose her mucus plug and you may find that as well. Provide her with a clean cage, and material to make a nest. You may also provide her with a box (make sure it has a lid or no bottom so that you can check on things without disturbing the babies and mother). Mother hamsters can become stressed out easily and will fail to care for the young or even eat the young so it is very important not to handle the babies and mother after birth for the first 2-3 weeks.
